The battery life on the 2016 MBP was pretty poor. GLad it's gone, but I think it's funny how people criticized apple 4+ years ago for taking away the function keys, and now theyr'e back and that's a feature. iBook is a line of laptop computers designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple Computer, Inc. There's zero benefit to it, and that the machine cost $200 more than the previous model, suggests it's a negative feature. Replacing a 1.0 GHz Combo drive model and a 1.2 GHz SuperDrive model introduced just six months earlier, the 14 1.33 GHz iBook G4 offers 24 more power than the 1.07 GHz (nominally 1.0 GHz) model at the same price. Hate the touchbar, hated it from almost day one, and I thought all along "well it sucks now but it'll get better as more apps support it." No apps really support it in any useful ways, and you just lose 12/13 buttons, and now 4+ yeaars later, the thing is a piece of shit and routinely doesn't work. Apple simplified the iBook line in October 2004 with two basic models, a slower 12 and a faster 14. blows me away how so much is passed in one port. I prefer USB C for charging over magsafe, I feel I'm like the only one probably, but I especially love how I get *everything* from one single convenient port, power, video, network, all of my connected devices, etc. I never really minded that the 2016 MBP lost all of the ports in exchange for 4 USB C ports. Now, the screen size difference makes the distinction clear: people looking for portability can get the Air or 13-inch Pro, and the 14-inch Pro exists for those looking for more horsepower. The attractive 14-inch iBook G4 has most of the features, performance, and battery life a basic user will need, but Intel Core Duo-based iBooks loom large on the horizon. The lineup has been a bit confusing for the past few years - the two-port MacBook Pro and four-port 13-inch computers were awkwardly lumped together but were pretty different computers with different processors and prices. It's nice to see Apple more clearly differentiating the smaller MacBook Pros.

It also marks the return of the mid-size 14-inch screen, which Apple hasn't put on a laptop since the 2005 iBook G4. The redesign is the first major one in Apple's pro laptop lineup since 2016, the year that brought ill-fated butterfly keyboards, the Touch Bar, and Thunderbolt 3 as the standard and only port type (with the exception of a headphone jack, of course). Apple has announced a redesigned MacBook Pro, which now includes a 14-inch screen, Apple's new M1 Pro and Max chips, a notch, and a wider selection of ports in addition to the standard Thunderbolt ones.
